For me, Yule truly starts the holiday season. December 21 is the winter equinox, which means it’s the shortest day of the year and the rest can only get longer, warmer, and better, right? Right? Surely that has to be right in some regard.
Whether right or wrong on my excitement about the shortest day of the year, Yule is an enjoyable part of the winter season for me. It means Christmas is near, and the new year, too. And with the new year comes goals and plans for the up-coming three-hundred and sixty-four days. Most of my goals are writing related, and this post is an example of some of them.
New year, new things! I will have further, more detailed, updates when 2022 actually rolls around, but for now let’s talk about what I’ve already done in preparation for the new things that are happening in my writing life.
First, I went ahead and did something scary I’ve been meaning to do for some time now. I upgraded this website of mine to a custom domain. Or in other words, I got the Wix ads removed from the site and the Wix domain label removed from the URL. That might not seem like much, but for me it’s a BIG thing. A scary thing. It means more commitment to maintaining this site, and more of a commitment to my writing.
Second, I created this blog! This is a place for not only bringing you updates on my writing, but where I will be posting pieces of my fiction you can read between my publications. I hope to slowly post a few serial stories, as well as one-shots, here. Fingers crossed!
This blog is another huge step for me that might not seem like such a big deal on the surface. But truthfully, it is very much a large move forward. I’ve been avoiding anything requiring somewhat consistent updates for a while now because I wasn’t sure if I would have the energy to keep up with it. I’m still not sure if I do, but I’m going to try. And if you’re here reading this, I hope you try with me and keep coming back to see what I’m up to.
Because there WILL be big things happening with my writing this coming year and beyond. There are things in the works I am extremely excited about (not to mention TERRIFIED about), and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you. It’s going to be an amazing couple of years. How do I know? Because I’m going to make sure of it.
Blessed Yule, Merry Christmas, and happy holidays! I cannot wait to show you what’s ahead.
